WHO’S IT ABOUT?

Many of us fail to realize God’s potential in our lives because we put our own might and power into play without giving God a chance to work through us.   We are often so ego-centric and self-focused that our desire to work is often for our own glory at the expense of God’s.

2Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

In a nation which thinks that everything should be “better than Texas”, it is hard for us to think in terms of how God usually works.  Paul points out that God’s work is usually manifest in weak things, things that most of the world dismisses as inconsequential or unimportant.   Many times, it is more likely the true work of God is manifest in:

  • The young parent who nurtures their newborn
  • The kind person who runs out during their own lunch to deliver meals-on-wheels.
  • The co-worker who stops to give a hand to a struggling fellow.

If you truly want to serve, be a part of Him, then you will have to learn to put yourself on the backburner of life–or crucify yourself:

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Only then it will be about Him, not you.
