Daily Devotional – June 22

From early age most of we Christians have been taught that we should fear nothing.  Phrases like "trust in God" and verses like "2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." are quoted pointing out our "deficiency" when we experience fear.

The great Apostle Paul admitted to fear in 1Corinthians 2:3: "And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling." and we see references throughout the Bible where saints of great stature experienced being afraid.

As Christians we will experience fear–some of it for our own good.  It is our relationship with Jesus Christ that determines HOW we handle that fear.  Do we fall apart, or do we turn to Him.

Psalms 18:2 The LORD [is] my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, [and] my high tower.

  1. Which just goes to show that proof texting is silly. One can prove almost anything by finding a single verse that, taken out of context, supports it. Truth is discovered a little at a time, from scripture and elsewhere.
