Understanding Faith

Yesterday I was in a chinese food restaurant to pick up my shasha beef with rice, when a small boy of about 2 1/2 years old walked behind the counter and headed back to the kitchen.  After his mother retrieved him, she slapped him on the hand.  Now I hardly saw the offense deserving of this, especially since the child probably didn’t know what he was doing in the first place, but what took place after was interesting.

Not a minute later, the little boy was wandering once again and I looked down at him and smiled.  He quickly scuttled behind his mother, holding on to her leg, peering out from its protective cover.  The same cover that had just slapped his little hand.

Jesus used a child to illustrate the simplicity of faith.  Mark 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

Faith is believing, trusting…nothing more, nothing less.
