Daily Devotional – August 15

2 Peter 2:5-6 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

Godliness – Tht 7th Inning Stretch

If we take our virtue, add knowledge, temper that knowledge and use it in a patient fashion we end up exhibiting some GODLINESS in our lives.   While virtue is the DESIRE to do right, godliness is the desire coupled with the all the right elements to actually DO the right thing–the RIGHTEOUS thing.

NOW we’re getting somewhere!

  1. That is a powerful picture!!!! I’m not sure why you chose it to go with today’s devotion. But it screams SURRENDER! I love it. Hope you are doing well, Jack.

  2. Hi Helen!

    Hope you are well today, too!

    The reason for the choice in picture is that one usually does not associate surrender with Godliness. Godliness only comes about when we ARE surrendered to God–Him working THROUGH us–Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.
