Daily Devotional – November 3

2TIMOTHY 3:1-4,13(a)
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

…But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse

  1. Just before coming to the Bereans blog, I read this quotaion by Marshall B. Rosenberg: “Peace reqires something far more difficult than revenge or merely turning the other cheek; it requires empathizing with the fears and unmet needs that provide the impetus for people to attack each other.” I think that “something” is God.

  2. Absolutely, Helen! I usually don’t like to do a “preachy” post on Friday, but it has been my line of thought lately on what I see around me. People truly need the Lord!

    Have a blessed weekend!

  3. This reminded me of part of a poem that was written by Robert Burns.

    “Many and sharp the num’rous ills
    Inwoven with our frame!
    More pointed still we make ourselves,
    Regret, remorse, and shame!
    And man, whose heav’n-erected face
    The smiles of love adorn, –
    Man’s inhumanity to man
    Makes countless thousands mourn!

  5. There is, indeed, good “out there.” It’s just that sometimes the bad gets all the press.
