PARTIAL ARMOR (Part 6 of 8 )

Ephesians 6:13-17 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Do you like ice cream? Bet that you weren’t thinking of ice cream two seconds ago (unless you are a slow reader). The picture of ice cream you have floating in your head right now was put there by the “power of suggestion”, the same deadly and efficient weapon at Satan’s disposal. The battle for your soul is at first a battle for your mind, and unprotected by the helmet of salvation, we are easily influenced and controlled by Satan.
Without your helmet:

  • Lest Satan should get an advantage of us (I Corinthians 2:11a)

WITH your helmet:

  • I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)
  • which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27a)
  • for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9b)

  1. I had such a battle for my mind as a new convert that I thought I was backslidden. I didn’t realize at the time that the devil was trying to infiltrate my mind with his “stinkin thinkin”. When I called my pastor to discuss my struggle, he gave me the following passage of Scripture.

    Phi 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
    Phi 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
    Phi 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

    I learned that through the power of Jesus’ name, I could cast down wicked imaginations and replace them with true,honest,just,pure and lovely things.(God’s Word happens to be all of these.)Someone once told me that you can’t keep the birds from flying over your head, but you don’t have to let them land and build a nest there. The devil will always be lurking with his evil thoughts and suggestions, but with God’s help, we can keep them from gaining a stronghold in our mind.
