Common Sense Christian

The Thinking Christian’s Site

Daily Devotional – February 6

The apostle Paul wrote a couple of letters to a church in Corinth, a city about 48 miles southwest of Athens, Greece.

The church at Corinth holds the distinction of being the most chaotic and out of control church ever mentioned. When thinking of this church, Dr. Peter Venkman, from the movie Ghostbuster’s, words come to mind, “Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria.” Well, it was not quite THAT bad, but the church was a mess, a hotbed of mass confusion.

After many words of correction, Paul ended the 14th chapter in I Corinthians by saying, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

What applies to a church also applies to our individual lives. If your life seems out of control, maybe its time for you stop, tune out the noise, assess your situation, develop an orderly, goal-oriented plan and then heed Paul’s advice.
