Daily Devotional – March 8

A day or two ago a news commentator was talking about a politician.  The news person could hardly contain their excitement over this individual and spoke with every glowing and ingratiating term imaginable.  She almost sounded as if Jesus himself had returned to earth!

Speaking of which…

How often do we speak of our Savior, Lord and friend in such heartfelt terms.  How often do others see us gushing over Jesus?

Listen to this “reporter” talk:

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Do others see how we really feel about our Lord?

Got enthusiasm?

  1. Hi Jack, It’s not that I’ve been absent from your site this week but that your devotions have been the sort that – especially appropriate during Lent – posed hard quesions: ones that don’t call for debate but for introspection and purification. These are the kind of quetions with which we must “wrestle before God,” if we are to increase our faith. The answers to these questions indicate whether we are real or phony. From time to time, we need to take a personal inventory, so we know where we stand. For me, Lent is a perfect time to wait and pray in the shadows. “It’s Friday now, but Sunday’s comin’.” Thank you, brother.

  2. Hi Helen!

    I understand completely!

    I usually write devotionals that are directed first at me moreso than anyone else. Figure that if they are issues I struggle with, there may be others 🙂

    Take care!

  3. I have seen people just go absolutely ballistic at a football game, all over someone throwing a ball and making a touchdown. Nobody thinks that kind of behavior is strange or weird, so why is it that when people want to show the same enthusiam about Jesus, the One who died on the cross to bring about our salvation, the One who can deliver us from addictions and set us free, the One who gives peace and joy, that those people are labeled by many as “religious fanatics”? Just wondering on your thoughts about this.

  4. Hi Carol!

    1John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

    John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.

    John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

    Comes with the territory!
