Daily Devotional – June 13

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, who performed great exploits. He struck down two of Moab’s best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion (2 Samuel 23:20).

When we read about great warriors and heroes from the Bible, it seems like we’re reading a fairy tale about fictional characters who had superhuman strength to accomplish impossible feats. But the Bible is no fairy tale. These are real stories of real people. God touched them and used them, and gave them abilities to do great things for Him.

God has gifted you to do great things for Him as well, and he will certainly call you to do something. Maybe He will ask you to lead a small group, witness to your neighbor, or volunteer for some service.

Whatever God asks you to do, be obedient. He equipped you with gifts, abilities, and desires, and He sent His Holy Spirit to help.

Yield yourself to Him and you’ll be slaying lions in no time.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.

A Berean Classic.
