Want to change the world?

The best place to start is with the man in the mirror.

Look at yourself in the mirror today and think of just one thing that holds you back and determine to work on that the remainder of the week. Do research, read the Bible, have friends and family (like our blogger family) pray for you at your time of need. Allow God to help change yourself, and who knows…you may change the world.

1Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Blogs, work, family get-togethers, church outings, volunteer work, etc., etc., etc…

Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves.  A blogging friend posted a picture of herself in Hawaii when she was vacationing, and the look of peace and serenity on her face was a reminder to all of us:

Psalms 46:10A(a) Be still, and know that I [am] God…
…and we SHOULD be still at times for the purpose of spiritual and physical renewal.

Today, as well as everyday, try to find a minute or two to just

be still.

Tip of the Day

Take a break…

…no, I mean it, take a break!

Many of us spend a lot of time in front of our computers and on the keyboard.  Believe it or not, those who do are more prone to work related injury than those who work in many plants and industrial sites.  Carpal tunnel, eyestrain, and back and neck pain are just a few of the things we can develop when glued to our computer.

Workrave has an OUTSTANDING program that is customizable so that you will be reminded to take breaks and do those important little exercises that help you avoid long-term problems.

DOWNLOAD IT FREE!

Phit!

The physical activity that you get doing housework and yard work contributes to health, too. Scrubbing floors, vacuuming, raking leaves, pruning hedges, pushing a lawn mower all provide valuable physical activity.

Money!

Do you spend 50 cents each day at work on a Coke or even a dollar on a drink and a snack?  Although these are life's small pleasures, a conscienteous effort on your part just might pay off in the long run!

Say you average about $5 a week on such.  Instead of doing that, take that money on a daily basis and place it aside.  In one week you will only have $5, but within one year the fund will have $260.00 in it!

Before that, though, go to the bank after 10 weeks and buy yourself a U.S. Savings Bond.  Make sure you get one that compounds interest such as a Series EE–but check with your banker first.

If you start now, you will be amazed what you have amassed in 10 years.  You'll be even more thrilled in 20!

If you want to play around with the numbers, do a Google search on "Bond Calculators" and have fun!

Like free software?

Google has bundled a suite of quality software that is free and very useful.  Microsoft will soon pick up on this and come out with their own to compete, but until they do…

ENJOY!

Tip of the Day

Many people need an application for their computer so they go to Best Buy or Walmart and search through the software titles to try to find what they need.

Why spend money when some of the best software available is FREE?

This is a good site for freeware applications: Nonags.com (these are spyware and ad free programs!)

Here is another: 46 Best

Don't buy software when it is likely that something similar is free for the download!

How Do You Handle Depression?

The other most common ways to deal with depression included getting together with friends (36%), watching television (34%), listening to music (29%), reading (24%), praying (24%) and trying to figure things out (24%).

Funny no one mentioned reading the Bible…

Just the Fax

You don't need to spend a dime on faxing software. Windows XP has fax software. But it isn't automatically installed. You have to do the job.

Here's how:

1. Open the Control Panel and double click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components to start the Windows
Components Wizard.
3. In the Components list, click to select the Fax Services check box, and then click Next. Setup installs the Fax services. If prompted, insert the Microsoft Windows XP program disc, and then click OK.
4. On completing the Windows Components Wizard screen, click Finish. Close the Add or Remove Programs dialog box.

To configure faxing capability: Click Start, point to All Programs,
point to Accessories, point to Communications, point to Fax, and
click Fax Console. The Fax Configuration Wizard starts. Just follow
the prompts.

Tip of the Day

Did you know that old fashioned mayonnaise (not the low cal variety) is a great moisturizer for your hair? Shampoo as usual and then apply about a tablespoon. Wrap your hair in a plastic shower cap for a half hour and then re-shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
